I wanted to share a recent design win. These are rare and thus I believe should be celebrated. I’ve discovered a new (to me) Benjamin Moore paint color that I love. Kendall Charcoal. It’s dark green grey and appears to go with everything. Therefore, I’m qualifying it as a neutral. It’s so nice to be able to add color into a room without feeling overwhelming.
Kendall Charcoal And Revere Pewter
That is funny - I just painted over my Chelsea Gray for Kendall Charcoal (LOVE it!) and the rest of my house if Revere Pewter - who knew! April 9, 2013 at 9:55 PM Post a Comment. I used Revere Pewter on 3 walls in my kitchen, with Kendall Charcoal on the wall with the white cabinets. I get sooooo many compliments on the colour combination! Revere Pewter is the ultimate greige, and for good reason. It’s a mid-weight color with slightly grayer undertones than Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist, and it goes with almost every style. Revere Pewter can feel just as contemporary as traditional and is perfect for all rooms of the house, depending on how you style it. Benjamin Moore Graytint.
I LOVE color but I have noticed that anytime I photograph something colorful in my house something feels off about it. I’m a firm believer that if it doesn’t look good in a photograph it’s because it doesn’t look good in reality. Often, I will take a step back, look at a room and think, “Okay, this looks nice.” Then I take a photograph, look at it 2 hours later and think, “Oh dear God, what have I done?! This is hideous!” Strange really. I do not trust my eyes as far as I can throw them. And I’m not about to gouge my eyes out and throw them if you know what I’m saying. Anyways, back to Kendall Charcoal.
Here are some of my original inspiration pictures that convinced me to go buy a quart and paint some shit.
Does it not go with everything? It looks good on walls, doors, cabinets. You name it, Kendall Charcoal makes it look good!!
So far I’ve only used it on accent pieces but I’m getting that feeling inside my bones that makes me want to paint a room!!!
Hope you enjoyed today’s post. Thanks for reading.

Kendall Charcoal is truly a shade of gray. Considered an earthy shade, it that pairs well with organic materials, such as: wood, rock and stone.
Every gray has undertones in one form or another. In an area with more direct sunlight, Kendall Charcoal may give off a tinge of green and brown, but these undertones adds the color’s interest and beauty. Some grays tend to lean purple; however, in our experience, you won’t see this with Kendall Charcoal.
On the Light Reflectance Value scale, Kendall Charcoal is a 12.9, putting it on the very edge of dark. In a poorly lit space, Kendall Charcoal will go deep but with more natural light this shade lightens tremendously.
What to Pair with Kendall Charcoal
Kendall Charcoal does a great job of working a variety of colors with warm and cool undertones. If the undertone of other fixed elements around your space are warm, then pair Kendall Charcoal with other warm paint colors. Kendall Charcoal works well with a variety of trim colors depending on the look you’re trying to achieve. Because Kendall Charcoal is more of a muted shade, stay away from pairings to clean and bright or stark and cold. Some trim colors worth testing with Kendall Charcoal: White Dove by Benjamin Moore and Alabaster by Sherwin Williams. If you’re looking to go a tad darker it also plays nicely with Revere Pewter and Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore. Kendall Charcoal does have a very dramatic effect when applied to an entire house. If you’re nervous about making the dive, remember you can ask Benjamin Moore to lighten the shade 25-50% This will keep the undertones but just take off the edge a bit.
